Inspired by Pharrell Williams’s fascination with space and childhood memories of Mariner 9’s Martian landing, the RM 52-05 is a visually striking and technically impressive limited-edition timepiece. Featuring a sculpted astronaut helmet over a Martian landscape, this watch flips our perspective turning the dial into a window into outer space and making it truly “subversive” in haute horlogerie.

Design and Craftsmanship

The tonneau-shaped case combines brown Cermet (a titanium-ceramic hybrid) bezel and caseback with a Carbon TPT® caseband. Inside, a sapphire and titanium “helmet” crafted in Grade 5 titanium is hand-engraved, Grand-Feu enameled, and airbrushed to reflect the Valles Marineris on Mars. The aventurine-glass backdrop mimics a starry cosmos each component deeply rooted in pigment, craft, and cosmic storytelling.

Movement and Performance

At its core is the Calibre RM52-05 manual-winding tourbillon. Spanning 32.80 × 30.90 mm and just 6.40 mm thick, it operates at 3 Hz, supports a 42-hour power reserve, and features 19 jewels. The movement architecture Grade 5 titanium baseplate and skeletonized bridges echoes rocket launch platforms, symbolizing engineering excellence with cosmic flair.
